From Mani to Something Else
Auntie Aphrodite cared for the family's olive trees in Mani for decades.
Before she died, she passed the groves to her nephew Nikos.
Nikos is Jamie's stepfather. Together with Jamie's mum, Lesley, he looks after the family groves in Greece. Jamie runs Something Else in the UK.
Simple enough.
Long before the brand
The groves were being worked long before Something Else existed. This photograph is part of that history, not a piece of branding created afterwards.
The groves now
The work continues in the same landscape today.
Something Else grew out of an existing relationship with the trees, not the other way round.
From To Káti Állo to Something Else
The business started under the name To Káti Állo.
In Greek, it means something else.
Eventually we realised the translation worked rather well. So we used it.
The name changed. The reason for doing it didn't.
More than the family groves
Something Else also works with neighbouring olive growers in Mani.
That matters. We don't want a good family story to become a misleading supply chain story.

The groves are still the point
The brand began because the groves were already there.
What happens to them next matters more than inventing another romantic olive oil story.
