How to Store Extra Virgin Olive Oil Properly

Olive oil does not improve with age. Once it is made, the aim is to protect it from the things that speed up deterioration: heat, light and oxygen.

Keep it away from heat

Do not keep the bottle beside the hob or oven. A cool kitchen cupboard is better.

Keep it out of direct light

Dark or green glass helps, but the best protection is still storing the bottle away from direct sunlight.

Keep the bottle closed

Air enters every time the bottle is opened, so close it properly after use.

Use it

Do not save good olive oil for a special occasion. Once opened, we recommend using it within around three months for the best flavour.

The bottle is there to be emptied.

Read why we use green glass, see more about our olive oil, or shop the current bottle.
